onocoy is building a decentralized network of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receivers that deliver centimeter-level positioning data worldwide. Developed by highly experienced GNSS engineers, including the co-founder of u-blox — today’s market leader in GPS semiconductor technology — onocoy combines hardware-agnostic infrastructure with tokenized incentives to create a truly open, global standard for high-precision location data.
What is onocoy
onocoy is a decentralized GNSS reference network designed to provide high-precision positioning services across the globe. The project is led by veteran GNSS engineers, including the co-founder of u-blox, whose semiconductor technology powers vehicles, drones, and consumer electronics worldwide. The network is hardware-agnostic: it supports existing receivers, DIY setups, and new equipment from multiple manufacturers. Existing network operators can also connect their stations seamlessly.
The ONO Token
onocoy launched its native token, ONO, in July 2025. Early participants who mined with beta stations were rewarded in BONO (beta-ONO), which can always be swapped for ONO on the onocoy explorer at a multiplier starting from 150% and increasing over time up to 800%. This ensures early contributors are rewarded more generously as the network scales.
How to Mine onocoy Tokens
To earn ONO, participants set up GNSS reference stations on rooftops with stable internet, electricity, and an unobstructed sky view. High stability is required to achieve centimeter accuracy. Rewards can be split between multiple co-owners of a station, and are ideally claimed periodically rather than daily.
Optimizing Mining Rewards
Rewards are determined by data quality, uptime, and the geographic distribution of stations. Deploying a station where coverage is sparse brings higher value than clustering too many in one place (e.g. more than four in the same village is inefficient).
How to use the onocoy Network
Clients access the network by selecting the nearest station that meets their quality requirements. A pay-per-use model, powered by blockchain microtransactions, makes it cost-efficient and accessible. While major tech companies are primary users, the network is also designed for smaller enterprises, farmers, and startups.
Governance
onocoy is governed by the onocoy Association/DAO, which uses open Web3 methods to ensure transparency, inclusivity, and shared decision-making. This model empowers contributors and stakeholders to guide the network’s long-term development.
