Crankk

Crankk is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) project that aims to build a global LoRaWAN network for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The project, known as Crankk, is designed to provide connectivity for a wide range of IoT applications, from smart meters to GPS trackers. By joining the Crankk network as a gateway operator, individuals can contribute to the expansion of the network’s coverage and, in turn, power the future of IoT. The project emphasizes a community-driven approach to building a decentralized and accessible IoT infrastructure.

The core of the Crankk ecosystem revolves around the CRKK token, also referred to as the crankk token. Participants in the Crankk network can earn CRKK tokens by operating a gateway and expanding the network’s coverage. This token serves as an incentive for network participation and is a key component of the project’s tokenomics. Crankk was initially built on the Kadena blockchain, which was chosen for its low gas fees, security, and scalability. However, due to the bankruptcy of the Kadena blockchain, Crankk has temporarily paused its operations and is in the process of migrating to a new blockchain.

Crankk prides itself on its ease of participation and its commitment to a truly decentralized network. The project offers a free, open-source operating system, Crankk OS, which allows users to turn their gateways into multi-brand DePIN miners. This feature, known as Multimining, enables users to participate in over 20 DePIN projects simultaneously with a single gateway. The Crankk project is community-owned and governed, with no venture capital backing, ensuring that the network remains in the hands of its users.
